I'm not very happy with how this turned out. I think maybe the yarn was just too stiff for this kind of scarf. It would have been better in something with a little more "give"....maybe in something very lightweight and airy. I probably should have added some extra increases as I got closer to the point where I wanted the ties to be because they do not seem long enough...even though I followed the pattern as written. I do love the colors of the silk, so I will probably wear it with a pin or something and not tied.
It looks better as a serape for Robert.
(Robert is my daughter's very first doll. Her class at school had a Robert, and she absolutely adored him...carried him everywhere. I asked where they ordered their toys, and found him on a school-supply Web site. This is actually Robert #2. Apparently, Robert #1 got fresh with the dog one night when we weren't home, and he "accidentally" got his fingers and toes bitten off. Luckily, I had the Web site bookmarked. So while Robert was away on "vacation," a replacement Robert was ordered and shipped Fed Ex. New dolls with blinking eyes and real hair have since joined our happy family, but Robert still holds a soft spot in her heart. Must be the golden hair and the piercing eyes. I will miss Robert terribly when he goes away to college....)
