"Nice Knits"!

Whip Up

Badge1_red_1If you need a shot in the old creative arm, be sure to visit the new site "Whip Up."

Here is the focus of the site (as quoted from the About page):
"This website has been created in order to bring the best original and exciting crafts to the attention of many. To create a community of artists, crafters and makers and share ideas in a central space."

The site will function much like a blog, so I am imagining updates will be frequent. It runs the gammet from fabric to yarn, and felting to quilting. Quite a good place to visit when your inspiration pile seems to be getting low.

...not a creature was stirring..

Candycanemouse_1I decided that this year the Bean and I would make holiday gifts for her friends at school instead of going to the dollar store and buying junk that would probably get thrown away. I saw the pattern for these little mice in an old Martha Stewart Kids magazine I still had sitting around. (I actually just now found a copy of the pattern on their Web site.) I did the cutting, and the Bean did the gluing. She actually stuck with it and glued all but three. They were a big hit. And I must admit, they looked pretty cute!

Happy Bday

I wanted to wish my Mom a "Happy Birthday" today, and I also wanted to show all of you what we sent her since I now know she has opened the box:

Escargot2_3

Escargot_2

Isn't she cute! She (I am guessing it's a she) is from Beth Doherty at Gourmet Amigurumi. The quality of this little lady is just incredible. I luckily went to the site just as she had put up a whole list of items for sale. Of course everything sold out in a flash, but hopefully she will have more creatures up for sale soon.

Happy Birthday Mom!

Too Fabulous for Words

As I clicked over to the 6.5 st's blog, the most wonderful creature appeared. Her gorgeous kitty was made by Beth Doherty at GourmetAmigurumi. The details on these softies are just incredible! Here are some of her other gorgeous creations. I have always wanted to knit some stuffed animals, and seeing these have definitely given me some inspiration. Hopefully she will have more up for sale soon. I HAVE TO HAVE ONE! I think I like the little girls yelling. They remind me of a certain someone I know ;-)

Mark That Stitch

I saw this link on Elvis Knits, and knew I would have to try it out:

Shrinky Dink Stitch Markers!

Illana at Knit Powers to Peace came up with this great way to make stitch markers. I used to LOVE Shrinky Dinks as a kid, but I remember they used to smell like hell when they were cooking. Can't wait to try these out!

Photos tomorrow on actual project progress!

Trees

Snowscape_1  Look at these cool tree ideas from Berroco. They would make great centerpieces. And even the crafty challenged (like myself) can put these together.

(Sorry for the lack of creativity in the post title. I couldn't think of anything clever to say about furry metallic trees. "Furry Firs" sounded hokey.)
