This scarf was my first cable project, and as I said before, cables are easier than I first anticipated. I think a scarf or hat are the perfect projects for a first-time cabler. Just enough cables to give you some practice, but not enough to make the project seem endless. I made this one a little shorter than the pattern called for because it was a Xmas gift for my mom. Being of small stature like myself, she certainly didn't need a 60" scarf. The KnitPicks yarn was wonderful to knit with, and super soft after it was given a little bath. Not a scratchy spot in site. It is available in wide range of colors, and I would definitely use this yarn again for a larger garment.
Oh, and speaking of cables, I think the Rebecca sweater will be on the agenda this year. Oh and did I tell you, I picked up the Savanna for FIVE DOLLARS A BALL (color =#4)! This time next year I'll be sporting flaming red cables across my chest. Should draw some attention, I think. (BTW - Knit Happens now has Savanna on sale...in case you want some cables!)
