A while back I heard about a group who was looking for donations of hand-knit items for people living with HIV/AIDS and other life-challenging illnesses. I have quite a bit of yarn in my stash that I didn't really have designated for a particular project, so I thought about making some scarves to donate. I knew I could easily knit a scarf on the train to and from work. Not only would my yarn go to a good home, but also someone somewhere would know that I care. I inquired about how to help, and luckily the Volunteer Coordinator got back to me today! The group is called "Food and Friends" and they provide support to people throughout DC, VA and MD. If you are interested in donating, leave me a comment with your e-mail or e-mail me and I will forward to you her e-mail message.
Please help! You never know, someday you may also need a helping hand.
